A Message for the Season: “You Can’t Judge a Book By Its Cover!”

Britian’s Got Talent comes through again… and just in time for the Holidays (or Holy Days)! Grab a cup of coffee or tea or cider (and a kleenex)… and be prepared to be moved!

BGT, simon, just when you think things couldn't get any worseYes, this clip will “preach” in a lot of ways!

Certainly, not to be missed is a core message of Advent-Christmas: that we should never judge a book by it’s cover!  (Did you catch Simon’s words at the beginning of the clip?!  See right.)

Yes, contra the wisdom and values of this age and world, beauty and power and grace show up in the most unexpected places and people!

Look, there’s God taking up residence in a peasant girl in outback Nazareth!

Look, there’s angels singing Good News to Shepherds, the street people of the day!

Look, there’s Messiah in a feeding trough… in a stable… in Bethlehem (the least)!

Yes…
26 Brothers and sisters,…  not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are…    (1 Corinthians 1:26-28)

May God bless us with eyes and hearts and minds to see and appreciate the deeper truths and realities all around –but often (yes, very often) below the surface!
